Storm Recovery Update from Mayor James W. Ford

Message from Mayor James W. Ford – July 6, 2026

Country Club Hills Residents,

I hope this message finds you safe and well.

On Friday, our community experienced a severe weather microburst that caused widespread damage, including flooded basements, downed trees, and power outages throughout the city. Because the safety of our residents is our highest priority, we made the difficult decision to postpone our Fourth of July fireworks display and concert.

Immediately following the storm, I directed our Public Works Department to clear streets and remove debris to ensure residents could travel safely throughout the city. Our Community Service Officers (CSOs) also monitored downed power lines and other hazardous areas to help keep our neighborhoods safe.

I know many residents were without power for an extended period, and I sincerely hope your service has now been restored. We have been working closely with ComEd to assist in restoring power to affected residents as quickly as possible.

This storm impacted not only Country Club Hills but many communities across the Southland. I want to thank our Public Works crews, first responders, city staff, and utility workers for their tireless efforts during this challenging time. Most importantly, I want to thank our residents for your patience, understanding, and cooperation.

We look forward to celebrating together once our rescheduled Fourth of July fireworks display and concert are announced.

Please continue to stay safe and thank you for being a part of the Country Club Hills community.

Sincerely,

Mayor James W. Ford
