Hometown Heroes Military Banner Program

The City of Country Club Hills is proud to honor the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. Through the Hometown Heroes Military Banner Program, we recognize and celebrate the contributions of our local heroes in a visible, meaningful way.

From Memorial Day through Veterans Day, banners featuring the names, branch of service, and photos of our veterans and active-duty members will proudly line the streets of our community, serving as a reminder of their sacrifice, service, and dedication.

Who Is Eligible?

The program is open to current or former residents of Country Club Hills who have served or are currently serving in any of the following military branches:

  • United States Army

  • United States Navy

  • United States Air Force

  • United States Marine Corps

  • United States Coast Guard

  • United States National Guard

How the Program Works

  • Banners will be displayed on streetlight poles throughout the city at the City’s discretion.

  • Banners will remain up for approximately two years, from Memorial Day to Veterans Day each year.

  • After the display period ends, banners can be returned to the applicant upon request.

  • If a banner is to be displayed for an additional two-year period, a new application and sponsorship fee will be required, and a new banner will be produced.

Each banner features the service member’s:
– Name
– Branch of Service
– Photo in uniform

How to Apply

  • Applications are available at City Hall: 4200 W. 183rd Street, Country Club Hills, IL.

  • Submit the completed application along with:
    • A photo of the service member in uniform (the photo will be scanned and returned)
    • A $140 participation fee

Please Note:

  • Submitted photos should be in reasonably good condition to ensure the highest quality banner reproduction.

  • Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cost and Inclusions

The $140 fee covers:

  • Banner production

  • Installation and display by the City of Country Club Hills

  • A 5″ x 8″ commemorative plaque (provided with the initial banner order)

Additional commemorative plaques can be ordered for $15 each.

This program is a small but heartfelt way to say thank you to the men and women who have stood for our nation. Each banner tells a story — of courage, service, and love of country — and reminds us all of the heroes who walk among us every day.
