Public Information Meeting
Scheduled by the City of Country Club Hills
For the BP Bike Path Project

The City of Country Club Hills will hold a Public Information Meeting concerning the proposed BP Bike Path Project. The public information meeting will be held at Country Club Hills Amphitheater Pavilion, 4150 183rd Street, Country Club Hills, IL 60478, on August 28, 2025 at 6pm to 7pm. All persons interested in this project are invited to attend this meeting. Persons with a disability desiring to participate in this meeting should contact the person listed in this Notice 5 days prior to meeting to make arrangements for participating. The contact may be by telephone, in writing, or by email.

This is a federally-funded project, and the public Information Meeting is being held in compliance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements and the Illinois Department of Transportation’s public involvement policy.

The City is seeking public comments on the effects that proposed BP Bike Path will have on the Vollmer Road Grove. The Vollmer Road Grove, which is under the jurisdiction of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, is a significant, publicly owned recreational trail and forest preserve. As such, it is subject to protection under Section 4(f) of the U.S. Department of Transportation Act of 1966. For the BP Bike Path project, the City intends to seek a Section 4(f) “de minimis” impact finding from the Federal Highway Administration based on a determination that the project will not adversely affect the features, attributes, or activities that qualify the Vollmer Road Grove for protection under Section 4(f).

Effects of the BP Bike Path project on the Vollmer Road Grove will include grading and path construction. Mitigation will include reseeding the disturbed area with native grasses. Detailed documentation describing the impacts and mitigation associated with the effects of the BP Bike Path project on the Vollmer Road Grove will be available for review at Country Club Hills City Hall, 4200 183rd Street, Country Club Hills, IL 60478 from August 11, 2025 to August 27, 2025. Electronic copies can be requested from the contact below.

The meeting will be conducted on an informal basis. Representatives of Country Club Hills will be available from 6pm until 7pm. Representatives will answer individual questions and record comments offered by those in attendance. Verbatim comments will not be recorded. The LPA representatives will address topics such as the need for the project and the tentative construction schedule. Preliminary reports, including environmental documents and an engineering analysis with drawings, maps, and aerial photography, will be available for inspection and viewing during the entire time.
