The Country Club Hills Police Department would like to inform our residents about Solicitors and the ordinances on file with the City. We have seen several posts from concerned residents regarding unknown subjects at their door, not knowing if they are Solicitors or of a different agenda. Please know that the City Of Country Club Hills has an ordinance on file regarding Solicitors (13.28). All Solicitors are required to submit an application and be approved by the City. Those approved will be issued a credential by the City to display. If you have any questions as to if a Solicitor is approved or not, please do not hesitate to contact the Police Department to verify the subject (708-798-3191 or if an emergency 911).
Some safety tips for thought: Never let anyone inside of your home, and speak to them through a door rather than opening it if possible. Always ask to see credentials and make sure that company uniforms, ID cards, etc appear to be in order. When you request a Solicitor to leave your residence, they are required to immediately and peacefully depart. If you do not want Solicitors at your door, you can post a “No Solicitors Invited” card as notice (see ordinance 13.28.06 for exact requirements of card). Again, we encourage residents to call with any questions or regarding any suspicious incidents so they may be addressed. The CCHPD appreciates our Residents and their vigilance in keeping our Community safe!
