Fireworks Safety And Information

FIREWORKS SAFETY AND INFORMATION
Happy 4th of July from the City of Country Club Hills Police Department! We want everyone to have a fun and safe holiday! To help achieve this, we have a few reminders for our residents and guests. Please remember it is illegal to possess or use any fireworks in the state of Illinois (Illinois Fireworks Use Act, 425 ILCS 35/2). Additionally, as of November 2022, the City of Country Club Hills has an amended ordinance (Fireworks 7.2.16) which makes it unlawful to possess, exhibit, shoot, explode or use any fireworks within city limits. Please review the complete ordinance for the updated information.

No sparklers can be used or sold on public property as well. Fireworks are explosives and sparklers can burn upwards of 1,800 degrees, hot enough to warp or melt steel. As a comparison, a match burns at around 325 degrees. With this in mind, please remember these laws are in place for SAFETY of you, your family and your friends.

ZERO TOLERANCE ENFORCEMENT

In response to numerous complaints about fireworks, the Police Department will enforce the law and ordinance. Our officers will investigate all complaints of fireworks thoroughly and any violation could result in the seizure of fireworks and citations issued, with imposed fines up to $2,000.

To enjoy fireworks safely, we encourage residents and guests to attend our sponsored event below.
