Shop with a Cop 2025 – A Day of Smiles & Holiday Cheer

This past Saturday, local law enforcement partnered with area youth for the annual Shop with a Cop event at Walmart in Country Club Hills. Children were paired with officers for a special holiday shopping experience—building connections, spreading joy, and creating unforgettable memories along the way.
Each student was able to shop for items of their choice, enjoy the holiday spirit, and experience firsthand the positive relationships between our police officers and the community they serve.
A heartfelt thank you to the South Suburban Association Chiefs of Police, participating officers, volunteers, and partners who made this meaningful event possible. Events like this remind us that community, compassion, and connection are at the heart of the season.

Trick or Treating Hours 2025

Trick or Treating Hours 3PM – 7PM

We are excited to welcome families and little ghouls to enjoy a safe and fun evening of trick-or-treating on October 31st from 3PM to 7PM. Get ready to dress up in your spookiest costumes, gather some sweet treats, and enjoy all that our community has to offer on this special day!

Why We Have a Trick or Treating Curfew

Our designated Trick or Treating hours from 3PM to 7PM help ensure that everyone enjoys a safe Halloween experience. By setting these hours, we prioritize safety, allowing families to enjoy trick-or-treating while there’s still daylight, reducing risks for children and ensuring visibility for drivers. It also helps residents who want to participate by welcoming trick-or-treaters during the set time. Let’s work together to make this a safe and memorable Halloween!

Trick or Treating Safety Tips

Make sure to follow these safety tips for a fun and safe Halloween night:

  1. Stay Visible: Make sure costumes have reflective elements or carry a flashlight to stay visible to drivers.
  2. Travel in Groups: Trick-or-treat in small groups with family or friends, and keep younger children with a trusted adult.
  3. Check Candy Before Eating: Always inspect treats for tampering or allergens before indulging.
  4. Stay on the Sidewalks: Use sidewalks where possible and cross streets at crosswalks to avoid traffic.
  5. Respect Property: Only visit houses that are well-lit and have Halloween decorations, and be respectful of those who may not be participating.

Participating Residents – How You Can Help

If you’re planning to welcome trick-or-treaters, here are a few ways to make the experience better for everyone:

  • Turn on Your Porch Light: A simple way to let families know you’re ready to hand out treats.
  • Keep Pets Indoors: Ensure the safety of both trick-or-treaters and your pets by keeping them inside during peak hours.
  • Decorate Safely: Make sure walkways are clear of obstacles and that decorations won’t cause any hazards.

Let’s make this Halloween a safe, spooky, and fun celebration for all! We can’t wait to see everyone’s creative costumes as we come together to enjoy this festive evening!
