Winter Crime Prevention Tip

During this winter season the weather can be very unpredictable. One common narrative though is the low temperatures. Take the time to check on your neighbors and the elderly to make sure their living conditions have adequate heat. If you are unable to check or are concerned about someone’s safety or well-being, please call 911 to report it. If you or someone you know is in need of shelter, please contact the Police Department’s non-emergency number (708-798-3191) for warming shelter information.

One tip this season revolves around warming your vehicle. It is important not to leave your vehicle running in your garage, as carbon monoxide poisoning could occur. Leaving your vehicle running and unattended outside could have unwanted consequences such as theft. Help detour crime by ensuring your vehicle is locked at all times, remember it only takes seconds for a crime to occur.

Take the time and help prevent crime this winter season! See you in 2018!
